October Update: "Where is Fall?"

Family and Dear Friends,

October has been one crazy month and it has gone by very quickly. First thing on my mind is: Where is Fall? Other than that though.... things are good. I am enjoying my job, and continue to feel blessed with having a job to begin with, and one where I work with great people, and God knew what He was doing. For those who aren't too sure where I am working and what I do.... I am working for a car dealership Cole Chrysler Dodge Mazda in San Luis Obispo. I am working in the service department doing a lot of Admin work and little odds and ends here and there. I am learning a lot and can now add Administrative and Clerical work to my resume :) I love working in a no-drama environment, and the days don't seem to drag too much. Can't really complain with getting car work done at almost nothing, just paying 50% of part cost. So, it has been a blessing, as I am doing what I can to extend the life of my car.

Everything else: Chaotically busy. Serving with the youth group at church has been wonderful and getting to really know them and their struggles and how God is using what I have gone through (some things due to my being hard-headed and self-inflicted), to really minister to them and deepen those relationships. We went to Boomers last Friday and had a wonderful time. Got ganged up on by a couple of the youthies and got a little wet in the motor boats (more than I planned). I am still doing childcare for our bible studies at church and being in choir has also been a lot of fun, and definitely a step out of my comfort zone. It is nice to have fellowship in the process with people I wouldn't normally, so that has been cool.

Every weekend in October.... I have been somewhere other than home. The first weekend I went to a baby shower for a dear friend down south, and then I was at a memorial service in Frazier Park which was also half of a high school reunion. The weekend after my good friend Brian Jost and I went up to San Francisco to visit my old roommate Ali, and had a blast. It was also his birthday so it was cool to go to Alcatrz and see the Blue Angles in S.F. for Fleet Week. Did a lot of walking, did a little shopping, lots of eating, some wine tasting.... all in all, a great weekend and seeing my other previous roommate Abbie in Salinas on the way home when we had dinner at Outback. Then this past week was the highly anticipated Rocktober weekend. There are 8 of us with birthdays in the month of October, and with alot of planning, and coordination went to Magic Mountain, Disneyland/Ca. Adv. and then to an ice hockey game of one of the Rocktober honorees. It was a great weekend! So, I did have a birthday earlier this month and turned 2-5. It was a toughy, and still is as I come to terms with "I am really an adult", I am in a new statistical age bracket.

What's ahead..... continue to remind myself how blessed I am to be working, I am contemplating taking some online and night classes to add to some of my education, raise my GPA, and have the ability to apply to Grad school if that is what I end up wanting to do. I have definitely thought about it for awhile in Wine and Viticulture or Business or even Ag Business. I do think an MBA would serve me well. I have also loosely sent out resumes to out of state firms and businesses within my field. No I am not unhappy with my job, but I still want to use my degree, and my heart has always had a pull to live in NYC, even for just a couple years. We shall see what God does with that desire. I also plan to continue to serve with church, as long as God gives me clearance. We have a youth retreat coming up in November, so be in prayer about that. I also have a Pampered Chef Show coming up since my roommate is a consultant, and it would be great to help her out. So it is on November 6th, and I am stoked on that. If you want to come let me know, or can't go but want to buy something my roommate can set up a way for you to buy online and have those purchases go towards my show. I am also excited as the holidays are not far off and for our church's Drive- Thru Nativity Scene and Christmas concert/program.... it is all definitely busy, but I am loving every minute of it all!

Prayer: To be protected from getting sick anymore.... it's happened way too much this year; and we have a few kids in our youth group who have shared where they are at in their faith and where they aren't so prayer for the ministry and for each teen in it. Thank you for all the prayers this past year from my health, to well being, to job situation.... :) I still blog here and there, so..... mini-updates will show up there at caitlynlawton.blogspot.com

Blessings and Joy,
Caitlyn
