2013 is really almost over and it has been quite the whirlwind. It is this time last year I came back from New York and there is a lot of regret in that. I miss it dearly, the people, and my family... but I also know the opportunities I have here are ones God has put together. It was a big blessing being close as both my best friends got married (to their respectives) in June and I feel as though this year I have been narrowing down and figuring out what I want to do in the long term.
5 1/2 years ago I graduated from Cal Poly with a degree I fully intended to use-- and we were in the recession. Here we are now, and I am not too keen on going into my field and have been filling the time with working in sales and retail positions, because they are easy (in retrospect) and God has allowed it to fully take care of my financial liabilities while being able to live comfortably. I have never been one to be driven by money. I want to in the long run be doing something I am passionate about... and sales, telecommunications, and retail hours is not part of that. The sales part I can handle.... I just know long term I need an industry change. I seek them out on the time I have and have been networking when possible... we shall see where God leads.
This year also brought closure and steps forward.... I realized that I was really, really ready to start a chapter in my life in moving forward and saying good-bye to what has been my home on and off for 11 years. I made the move down to LA, and it is the most at peace moving decision I have made as God put things in place. Having visited SLO a few times and the friends.... there are the people I miss but the place.... no. It holds a special place in my heart. I grew up a lot in that place, became my own person, and learned about who I am. Going to New York did that-- fulfilling my dream. Being in LA is continuing to do that. I am blessed beyond belief by the community I have had in my church family and friends down here. I began attending Bel Air Presbyterian here in LA and it has been a great fit. The message is always great and the people are genuine and community is such a blessing. I have been to a lot of churches in my life time, and it is amazing when God just sets the stage. I am building healthy and strong friendships. I am looking to finish my MBA with Hope next year, change industries, and look to the long term.
I feel good things happening, in God's timing... and I feel Him working in my friendships and in my everyday.

Focusing on what I do have...
It is to easy to forget what we have been blessed with when we are plagued with trials. Sometimes their scale is small, and in some cases they are larger. I know for me... in the midst they seem too big and that they aren't going anywhere. All it took was for a few friends to text me or call me and it just encouraged me and reminded me that God has put some amazing people into my life-- and these were each from great guy friends whom I hold in high regard.
This morning started out just rough. Get to my car to head to work and my tire is flat. So thankful for signing up for Toyota Care in the exhausted hysteria I had when I bought my car (just hours after moving back from NY), and it came in handy. The quick response was awesome, and it also revealed that I must have hit something pretty massive to cause a flat tire.... a puncture hole and damage to my tire's rim. Well at this point I am late for work, and with the spare take side streets. In San Fernando Valley... this is not always a joy or the most convenient... but I do it cause I feel safer at lower speeds. I drop off my car at the dealer (which is like 2 blocks from work) and find out the costly damages. Not what I was prepared for this morning. I have an emergency fund (thanks to lessons from Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University), but I know this does not constitute as an emergency. As I am signing off and waiting for their shuttle to drop me off at work I get a text that was just another blow to the morning. The text was definitely not one I was prepared to receive, and yet I was praying as I responded in a way I felt would not be something to regret later... unfortunately the end result is the same and a friendship has come to an end. I am learning in those moments that there is a season... some are short, and some are long-- and while today seemed like an eternity.... sometimes God brings things to an end because His will and desire for them to continue is not so. Anyways... both those things put me in the worst mood and I walk into work (late-- and I HATE being late).... and as fast as I can try to shake off the morning.... and I just can't. I get some difficult people and I do my best to pass it off because I can't handle conflict or disputes today.... I go to lunch and in this pick up my car and on the way call my mom. Now... at almost 29 years old... to call my mom.... (I can't go crying to my dad because I think he just gets over whelmed and he got the pre-whelmed this morning). and I just start to cry... I tell her about my morning and how this ruins my plans for other things (financially speaking), and I think I unleashed like months of pent up stress and anger and just "ugh".... and there is something freeing about crying.... cause once you're done... then what? You get up and dust off, and move forward.
Later in the afternoon, the couple of texts came and they made me smile and remember that regardless of what I can't control, it is nice when you can't control the friends who text you when you need it. To remind you there are people always praying for you, thinking of you, and wanting God's best for you. Even just a "Hey, how are you?" has a comfort to it. Later even, I get a missed call from a very dear friend (not knowing he was calling me back as my phone likes to randomly call him from time to time). I end the work day in pretty good standings sales wise (my Manager states I am more profitable when I am not in a good mood-- not sure how to take that)... anyways... I leave work and call my friend back, when I learn I called him first... and it was just nice to catch up, talk about random things, and it made me feel like I was still in the loop with the group (back in Five Cities). This was a day I was wishing I lived near Amanda or Ali since best friends are always the best medicine for distractions, but I got off the phone reminded that it is not about who is not in my life... it is about who is in my life. Relationships that are equal give and take, and ones that are uplifting, encouraging, and beneficial. If they are unhealthy or cause you to not be who you truly are-- then what are they to you. I have always struggled with who I "should be" around people and I realized... I need to be the one who God sees all the time-- the work in progress mess. Yes, today was that example... I am a mess. In that mess it is weird how far I have come... anytime I would have a trial... it would always involve money somehow and I would freak out. Maybe FPU changed a lot of that, but I think I always remember "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it". God is faithful; He will never leave me or forsake me. Even today. Today when I wanted to just vent and say what was on my mind in my frustrations... He was there to guard my tongue and let me stew and calm down. He knew who I needed to interact with today in order to make it through. I made it through a rough day and I know tomorrow will have it's own "troubles", and then I will have amazing days where it seems like it is good enough to win the lotto... because as my friend Susee says "Life's tough, wear a helmet".... I think the best protection I have is keeping Him close to my heart and His Word to be reflected on and meditated on throughout the day. At the end of the day, I have my health, my friends, my family, and God continues to bless me when I do not deserve it.
I need to focus on what God has given me.... I need to slow down and listen more. I need to focus on quality in my life over quantity, and only let in what is healthy, beneficial, and will grow me. I need to remember the blessings when the enemy is trying all he can to knock me down and doubt my faith. It doesn't matter what I don't have... if I don't have the power to change it, why focus on it?! I need to be thankful for what I have and I need to be content in that-- even when it is hard. The older I get, the more solid I am seeing who my true friends are. The ones who I can see in the good times in my life, and in the bad, and in the one boring times (I am more boring than most people think). I need to focus on following my convictions, and not getting worked up over things I have no control over. In the moments I feel heavy hearted.... natural reaction should be going right to prayer... I need to focus on that and not "reacting". As I sit here writing, which is the best medicine for me.... I see my whole day... and it could have been worse. Granted, it was not the best day but in the end I made it to and from work unharmed, I was reminded that I could be "unemployed" and I am not, I see the results of hard work in my life by the job I have and where I live. One bad text message was overshadowed by the outpouring of grace, love, and care from the people God has put into my life-- at the moment I needed to be reminded. To love someone unconditionally is to accept everything and not expecting that person to change. A friend of mine, Nathan Shields (which I think he got it from someone else, but I credit Nathan cause he says it) "God loves me just the way I am, but too much to let me stay that way". He loves me on my worst days and when it feels like the world is caving in, and He loves me on the best of days and that is pretty awesome. I have some friends like that too, and they also love me enough to call me on my stuff and respect me enough to help me get there. I see "Jesus" in those people and those are the best reminders and glimpses to what I have.

If this offends you.... go find the "Unfriend" "Unfollow" "Block" links now...
It is 2013 and as people we are still offended by the personal beliefs and opinions of others. The funny part is that most of those beliefs and opinions have no direct and personal affect on others; hence "personal".
I am a Follower of Christ, Child of God, Daughter, Sister, Grandchild, Friend, Niece, Cousin, Republican, Traveler, Healthy living advocate, Employee to my job, Cal Poly Alumni, MBA student at HIU.... I am all these things and if you are offended by that..... feel free to "unfriend me", delete me from your phone book, take me off your social networking radar. I am not going to change being those things. One day I may add "wife", "mother", "grandmother" to that list... so be prepared. God is not done with me yet.
I know I was not put on this earth to be everyone's best friend. I was put here with God's will in mind... to love Him and serve Him and love others. First and foremost "Love Your Neighbor". That is part of the foundation I stand on... and live by. The other part is believing that Jesus Christ did not come to condemn but to redeem, by going to the cross in MY place for my sins (missing the mark). No greater love has none than this: than to lay down life for a friend.... and JESUS did! The key word is "love". The best example on how to love people is from Jesus himself-- talk about the best example.
Now, this concept will offend people. Love offends people. In this, I also believe every word in the Bible to be without error and true. I put my own life on it. I have faith this is true and have no reason to doubt it. I have seen God personally work in MY life and those around me. I also know how my life can look when I don't trust Him and I trust myself thinking I don't need anything but me. Me? A human being with the ability to make mistakes-- and often does. This is the foundation to who I am and what I stand for.
In love you find grace and mercy. Who am I to not exercise this when it is given to me each and everyday from God... and if I am striving to be Christ-like in heart and lifestyle... shouldn't I at the very least do this? I have my short-falls.... a lot of them... and I am not comfortable with them. I know I have a big need for more discipline in my life, I need to remember that the words of my mouth are the reflections of my heart.
People are easily offended at others personal beliefs and opinions... and even lifestyles. Obviously, there are things out there that offend me or I don't agree with. To bash an individual is not love, it is a form of hate and intimidation. Over the years I have had every social networking site out there: MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, SnapChat, Blogger, WordPress.... we are in a world of Social Media.... the first word is Social. We now hide behind this to hurt others. Half the things that get said on Facebook to others concerning pictures they post, thoughts they share, comments they leave... would never get the responses I see if the only way you could convey them was to the other person's face. This morning I commented on a friend's post concerning fast food. It was light hearted but I was also sharing my personal (key word) on it.... it then in an instant from another individual turned into my preaching and being judgmental. Because I personally believe Fast Food is bad for you and any nutritionalist will tell you that. Yes, I only live once... and after everything I have come through medically why would I chance it and not take care of the ONE body I am given. I am not perfect.... I am enticed by pretzel M&Ms and grabbing a drink with friends... but it is not my lifestyle. I prefer meals at home to eating out. I prefer to take care of myself and being responsible to myself in what I put in to my body. Somehow my opinion offended the individual. For those who don't know-- I had open heart surgery at 2 1/2 and to this day I am very cautious in how I treat my body. I am healthy now, yes, but I don't do anything to play those odds. I do watch what I eat. I come from a family who has struggled with weight and I know those struggles are in the cards for me if I didn't watch it. Being active is a huge thing for me in order to maintain health. So I find it funny when people call me a "health nut".... no it is more like "I like being alive" weird concept I know. I don't want to be in a position where I need to depend on the tax payers to take care of me because I chose to say "to heck with it, I will do what I want". I also don't want to be in a position of being sick. I am someone who does have food allergies and other ailments so why add to it? Why not do everything I can, every second of the day to be active, eating right, and cutting out the garbage (in every aspect of my life)?
If it isn't my Christian faith, what I choose to eat (or not eat), then it is my political beliefs. My being a Republican does not stop anyone else from being what they want or feel they align best with. Frankly, neither party really has it all together and if I had to best define myself it would be "Fiscally Conservative and Socially Moderate". If it has no direct affect on your life.... why even argue it?! If you go on to my social networking site and berate me for posting something I believe in.... then stop yourself. Go to the bottom right of my cover photo and click "unfriend". I don't need that in my life or people who don't respect my RIGHT to believe and practice what I do. I don't mind the respectful discussions as long as boundaries are not crossed, but I think people have forgotten how to do that. I think people go from "No" to "You are the Devil" in 9 seconds flat. It is amazing that adults can act like children when they aren't getting the results they want.
Facebook and other social media have become a bullying tactic. I took to Twitter a couple years back and have more and more gotten into that communication. If it takes more than 140 characters to convey something to an individual... I should pick up the phone and call them. Why do I have Facebook still? Really because a lot of my family 2,800 miles away are on Facebook and it keeps me connected as my 4 year old cousin is growing up and my Aunt is doing amazing things in changing her life and taking on a more healthy lifestyle. One of my closest friends to me moved to Washington and it is the best I can see her kids growing up everyday when she posts pictures. If I could teleport to those people in 9 seconds every time I wanted an update I wouldn't need Facebook. People take it way too seriously like it is the 'doctrine' of their lives. I really have no status updates anymore but great quotes I personally am reflecting on throughout the day. I see funny pictures and I am like "sure, let's share that". My Instagram is linked to Facebook... so really if I didn't have 8 years worth of pictures sitting on a server based in Palo Alto... I would be out. So really, if anyone can find a way to get all my pictures off and on to my computer.... I would delete Facebook like yesterday. Until then I will continue to share things that interest me on MY page, interact with friends and family, and if that offends anyone.... delete me. I don't have time for negative people in my life who are not there to encourage, lift up, or those who say things that are not quite necessary. I believe in "garbage in, garbage out"... with what we put in our bodies, our lives, or the people we choose to be around. They say that "we tend to be with people we want to be more like"..... and I know I want to be around those who encourage, lift up, and are people who make me want to be better. Those who are examples of "Christ-like" living, great mothers, great wives, people who love others, those who respect people, those who embrace those regardless of the baggage they carry.

July was EXHAUSTING but Good
I think in the past year I have gone through more changes and search for "what should I do". I have experienced some awesome things including living in New York, realizing what chapters are still open and the others that have closed.... and I have also been blessed in being a part of both of my best friends getting married. Then, one more time... I moved. I think I should write a book... I have done it so much this past year and big ones at that.
I am settling well in LA, and it feels right. There is no honeymoon phase or "awe" factor. It just feels normal, comfortable, and familiar. Coming with it has also come readjusting to searching for parking when I get home... my first car ding I got from the parking lot at work, and my driver side mirror getting replaced due to someone's bad driving and carelessness (I assume). However, I am now working 50+ hours a week, trying to settle in to somewhat of a work "schedule" and the time and days off I have I can get together with friends and I have been able to hang out with my sister when she is down with my dad.
Best part of July.... one of my best friends and hubby coming down to visit for the weekend and then going to the Yankees v.s. Dodgers game with my dad. I like both teams and cheer them on.... but together... I love the Yankees. Awesome game, even though NY didn't win... but they won the next day :).
I still have a little downsizing to do as I am going back to a room verses having stuff to fill an entire apartment. I have adapted to heat, but then it has not been too hot overall.... but hey... I do love it when it is hot.
Part of the chapter includes retiring my phone number of 10 years... and taking on a So. Cal prefix.... which goes into effect Monday. If I don't text you..... message me to make sure you get it if you want it. My only request: to not give it out. If someone needs it they can find me via facebook or you can let me know and I will get into contact with them.
Other than that.... life is the same of work... work.... work... and then a little bit of fun. Haven't had a "me" day yet... but I think one is to come soon.

Sprung into Summer
I have come to realize that I don't like to be busy... well okay... over the top insane busy. I think it gets in the way of peace, time to myself, and my overall sanity.
Since April life has been a whirl wind.... bridal showers, Easter, Bachelorette parties, Mexico Team Coordinating, now packing and moving. And yes, I take all this on because at some point along the way (once again) I have lacked the ability to say "no", and focus on wanting to please people. I know that the motivation is good... I want to help people, see them happy, and want their best. I know, I am crazy!
In that.... I have now seen my best friend, Amanda, get married to a great guy a couple weekends ago and about to go through it one more time as my other best friend, Ali, marries someone pretty awesome this coming weekend.
I have not had a moment to stop and be by myself, which I have needed for quite some time. I was telling a friend this morning through texting that I considered myself lucky to get alone time this morning to go to the Cardiologist and to the Dentist to get my teeth cleaned (yes, I still LOVE getting my teeth cleaned). I hate how time flies but I am really excited for June to end and my life to kinda settle down. However, writing has always helped. Blogging is good for that sort of thing.
In that.... I made the "official" announcement on Facebook about my departure from my current job with Samsung and that I would be moving (again) down to So. Cal. Ever since I came back from New York... I haven't quite felt like I "came back". I have been missing NYC terribly, and I know it is just not in the cards to be there and I get that. I know I have responsibilities to finish school and that is something very important to me. The past few months everytime I was down in LA, I longed for it more. I tried earlier to transfer within Samsung when a spot opened up closer to down there, and it didn't work out. I was frustrated, but I also know I don't want to do wireless forever. I want something more. God has definitely been working in His provision. The week of Amanda's wedding my housing seemed to be all set, and I was so relieved to not have to worry about it and I could fully focus on Amanda for the week. Well in the middle of the week it all fell through. I went into instant panic and in the midst of Amanda stressing out about her wedding I was having a mini-break down of anxiety on what I was going to do because I never wanted to focus on it the week of her wedding. So, that weekend I committed to not worrying about it because there was nothing I could do until the wedding was over. I forgot about the posting I had put for the church I am going to down there for their classifieds and got a call about a place in the area I ideally wanted to live in and the cost was lower than I budgeted.. and the best part... amazing Christian girls who love the Lord and meeting them the next day.... I was at such peace. God provided without me looking for them. At that moment much of my worry about moving and doubts subsided because I was reminded that "God had it under control".
I start work July 1 with training and will be moved into my new place and all events and commitments will have come to a close. No regrets or complaints as I am honored that both Amanda and Ali asked me to be part of their respective special days. I was so heartbroken to not be able to join the Mexico team this year due to conflict with Ali's wedding, I am still so glad I am able to contribute with coordinating (putting that degree I do have to work). It has been a blessing watching this team prepare to serve families and the communities in Tijuana, and that is my biggest prayer request is for God to bring them protection and strength and for the families to be open to what God wants to do and the love He has to give through these people. Over 13 churches go here on the Pacific Northwest and that's about 250 people building homes, putting on Vacation Bible School, and Vision Clinics for the people in Tijuana. I have next year and I can't wait.
So that's my life in a nutshell... crazy. Moving down to LA at the end of the month (Sherman Oaks to be exact) and working nearby in San Fernando Valley. Excited to finish school, network for the jobs I do want long term, and who knows what else God will do or what He will bring.
I am so thankful for people like Heather Jones in my life and the encouragement she has always been. She is my biggest cheerleader, and even though she is 1,200 miles away now in Washington :( It has definitely kept me going in the moments of stress and doubt (this is my shoutout to her). God has amazed me the people He has preented to be that when I needed and I give Heather props because she is the one I would vent to when life has been overwhelming, or when "drama" happens... she definitely gives the best perspective. And even in Ali's wedding planning the first thing she asks me is "how I am doing?". It has been a blessing for sure... 6 years of friendship and going strong.... sometimes I feel as though I don't deserve it.
My VZW family.... if it was not for those happy hours and hilarious group texts I would not make it through.
So that's been life since April.... and life is just whizzing by. All I want it a weekend nap and time to myself.... maybe it will come before the summer is over :)
(I will post pics of Spring highlights of weddings, events, and life soon).

Spring Reflection
This weekend creates quite the time to reflect. Last night I went to Good Friday Services and it always creates this moment of reflection. To see where I have come in my walk with the Lord, but also some of my many failures still waiting for some resolution or work to be done. Last night, we were to reflect on the areas we fail in the 10 Commandments... and gosh, that list in and of itself could go on forever. I know I am not perfect, not even close, and yet I have come to terms with the fact I never will be. Doesn't mean I shouldn't try... at least to live in a way that brings glory to Jesus.
I think I have been pretty reflective for awhile, since moving back from New York. I miss New York a lot. Some days I wish I would just get on a plane, move back into my old apartment and go back to the routine I was loving. Great thing about a bigger city... no drama, and there is always something to do, great people to meet, and amazing things to see and experience. I miss the friends I made there, and the family I got to see. I miss it even more the days my cousin Jayden sends me text messages or when I see pictures posted of the kids on Facebook. (And yes, this is my softie moment).
Holidays can be tough.... I like the central coast and I remember almost 11 years ago moving here and fighting to be here with a lot of "nay sayers" saying I would never make it. I think there is some satisfaction in proving them wrong in that and yet I never want to lose sight of how the life I live is not for other people, but truly for myself and for Jesus. I think I forget the latter sometimes and get caught up in my own race. After coming back, I feel as though my chapter on the Central Coast is really about to close. Sometimes, now that I am back, I feel as though I am on the outside looking in and some of the ties I had before (and I am sure the move to NY has something to do with it), are not there anymore. I get so excited when I get to go to Texas for work (I really do.... nice people and pretty laid back... and we all know I would love to live in a "red" state someday ;-) ). I actually got excited this week to find out my territory for work had been expanded to cover a big portion of Ventura... not necessarily because I love all the driving, but I do love the fact that I can plan my work week right to be in Santa Barbara or Ventura on a Friday, a weekend in LA, and then Monday have a work day in Santa Barbara or Ventura. And with the expansion, great deal of stores are now in those two places and it opens up the possibility to possibly move to Santa Barbara even if I don't get a spot in LA to transfer to in the coming months. I think I am just ready to be closer to the city life because I prefer it.... less drama (no one has time or cares), and the opportunities to seek what I truly and really want to do for the long term.
I think this is all stuff I should be praying about and do. I know I am here in the right now, and it is all good. Being able to be close to my two best friends who are getting married and other things I have taken on... but once those are done... my plan is to not commit to anything and be ready for anything that could lead to the "next thing" in my life.

March Madness
Somehow March always kicks off a busy season.... the chunk of winter makes us more lethargic and we get restless by March waiting for Spring to come. With all that comes all the things I have going on being full steam ahead.
March brings the first of many fundraisers for our Mexico Missions Team. So if you have anything you would like to donate or have a small business and would like to buy a space (only $20) let me know. Some people buy a space to have their own little sale, which is more than fine. All proceeds benefit the team going to Mexico in June.
March also brings lots of travel as I will be in Dallas for 4 days for work right after my favorite holiday... St. Patrick's Day.. (well one of my favorite holidays). I also have travel plans to venture to Sacramento at the end of the month, so still trying to swing those plans. Both of my favorite little kiddos (Parker and Makena) have their birthdays this month and I wish I could see them celebrate. Thank goodness for Skype and pictures... or I would go crazy.
Unfortunately, March has already brought round 3 of being sick... we are in day 6 of being sick and it is staying pretty consistent.... it is moving into the chest area a bit, but the sore throat is clearing up kinda, sorta, and my face feels less.... icky ;-) Somehow, I have not had a fever to this point-- even though my face feels freaking hot all the time-- especially my eyes....
March means I also say goodbye to good friends who will be moving back to San Diego (Graden and Elle). God is good and that is where their heart is and so I know this is where God will be with them in this transition.
March starts the season of great movies for Spring and Summer and I am excited for a few.... most importantly Iron Man 3. Yes, I am that girl who thinks those movies are freaking awesome!!!
March also is an important month as we celebrate the crucifixion and the rising of our Savior. We get so caught up in the commercialism of the "Easter Bunny, egg hunts, baskets, having to buy the dress.... why do we make it this fashion show kind of thing. I don't understand the reason to have to have an "easter dress".... we should come to Jesus as we are.... (okay that is my rant about it... done). This does give an amazing opportunity (as does Christmas) to invite people to church, as they are more inclined to go these two times of year.
As you can tell... things are about to get "cray-cray" with busy and it probably won't let up until Fall (that's how it goes right?). Continued prayers for friends and praises for my amazing friends Drew and Carlene who have had their new baby girl, Aubrey. Prayers for adjustment at home with a newborn again as they also have a 3 year old at home as well. Praises for my dear friend who got into nursing school at UCLA, prayers as she prepares for this chapter in her life (and also having a 3 year old). Prayers I get better and stay better. I really just don't have time to be sick. Prayers for my friend awaiting his test results from his CPA exam. Prayers for God's favor in this and that God will provide as he now begins the job hunt and going where God leads.
I am thankful for some of the amazing weather we have had lately... hope it comes back and stays :)

Am I Gonna Miss Something?
We become so busy with all the things life throws our way... it is rare to stop for a moment to let it all in or just to simply breathe.
2013 has been nothing short so far of a race.... it is already racing by as we hopefully end winter soon (I don't care that the groundhog saw his shadow.... winter will end soon-- I know it ;-) ).
I know last year before I got to take a "step out" and be in New York and the opportunities job wise that came from it-- by coming on with Samsung, which also meant coming back to the place I have spent 10 years of my life. Coming back has been very different, and I think it has been a good different. I realize what I can do, and where I can go.... and that I am not confined to a small town or a place of complacency. God will let me go to big places and there is nothing wrong with dreaming big if you have a plan. I have so many amazing and talented friends who have amazing things going on in their lives: 2 of my very best friends are getting married (no, not to each other :-) )... and one of those just got a great new job. Another friend is gearing up to take his exams at the end of this week to become a CPA (Okay, I am pretty sure that is what it is... I know it has 3 parts and this is for the 3rd part); Another friend of mine is waiting for her 2nd baby to be born this week (yay Carlene and Drew).... and then there are more... a dear friend applying to nursing schools, another friend just filmed a pilot for a show he has been working on in front of and behind the cameras. My dear friend also just got engaged the other day and I couldn't be happier for her. Then a friend from NYC (we worked together at Verizon) transferred to California, in the awesome city of Hollywood. This is a big year for people and life is just zooming by.
In all of this.... how often do we stop and PRAISE God for these things? Or are we just so focused on continuing to pray for wants and needs? I know it is easier to give God our "list" instead of our thanks. I am not saying I am not guilty of this, because I very much am. I am also not taking away the value of the amazing things happening, because they really are all amazing and I know with all these things people's hearts are fully in these things and these are dreams, loves, passions, desires of their hearts. It makes me reflect on the things God has brought into my life this past year and the things I am still striving for. I don't desire to stay in a small town forever. I want to continue to grow spiritually, personally, professionally... and seek things to better myself. I don't compare myself to others, just to myself... and wanting to be a better version of myself. I want to make an impact for Jesus, I want to do amazing things job wise. While I miss New York City terribly these days, I know God does things for a reason when he puts up every sign and makes certain roads very narrow... I know I am supposed to be here in California and I am very much at peace for that. As I figure out what that means.... how my job fits in to that, my career goals, finishing my MBA, and my ministry desires... I still feel as though with life going SO fast, and the pace picks up the older I get.... am I gonna miss something? Have I already? Do I stop enough to listen to what I need to hear. My mom posted something on her facebook recently and it was very interesting (and I don't normally seriously comment on her postings-- sorry Mom)... but that "listen" and "silent" both have the same amount of letters in them and use the same letters.... these are two words I don't exercise enough in my relationships with people or with God. I am too busy "GOING" all the time. I may just miss something if I don't stop, listen, and sometimes just be silent.

2013 is gonna fly by... isn't it?
I think since the moment I touched the ground in December after coming back from New York, my life has been nothing but busy (or sick). January proved to show that 2013 is going to be one crazy year. Work has been going well and sent me to a whirlwind trip to Dallas. Definitely wish I saw more of the place before flying out, but hey.... if I go back to Texas... I think I want to go visit Austin.
Just last weekend I ran a 5k in LA (well 75% run since I am still recovering slowly from bronchitis) and went to the happiest (and most expensive) place on earth. I still don't know how a family of 4 can afford it now that it is $125 per day for a park hopper pass (PER PERSON). It was a great weekend with great friends and a much needed weekend. My first 5k for 2013, and no complaints. It was so much fun and my college friend and her husband (10 years and counting) came up from Irvine as well to run with me. For those of you who have Facebook I know I inundated the pages with the pictures.
Please be in prayer for some things: Staying healthy. I can never ask enough for that ;-) Also, prayers for our youth ministries at church and our church as a whole as the search continues for a youth and family pastor after Aaron and Heather moved to Washington back in the Fall, leaving a very big hole. Prayers for the students as they continue to adapt to changes and so many have stepped up and taken ownership which is such a blessing. Prayers for our Mexico team.... this is so near and dear to my heart and I am sad I can not be in two places at once this summer to be there and involved with another commitment... prayers as the team prepares and as we fundraise a very high amount for this summer. Prayers that the lives our team encounters this summer will see Jesus in such an amazing way through service.
Prayers for friends: A friend completing his CPA exams this month.... prayers for nerves and to be ready and then for after in job direction; prayers for one of my best friend's getting married and going into a new job.... prayers she would not be so stressed out and that she would enjoy these amazing new chapters in her life. Prayers for a friend applying to Nursing schools.
Thanks guys!
