An update on my job hunt:
I have found the ideal position for me. The job I have wanted since I have graduated from Poly! Now I just have to get the job!
The position is with the San Luis Obispo Downtown Association for the Promotions Coordinator position. What makes it ideal besides I never have to plan a wedding (thank the goodness)....? Well it is working for the city... and not just any city... San Luis Obispo. San Luis Obispo will always be special to me. I worked so hard to live there for the 6 years I did, and have even a newfound appreciation for it after my 4 month stint in San Diego. It is a blessing to be part of the Central Coast community, and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else anytime soon. Anyway... the Promotions Coordinator oversees Thursday Night Farmer's Market, Concerts in the Plaza, Santa's House, Holiday Parade and other events, and then other stuff during the year. A great way to be involved in the community and also to draw in the tourist. I can take what I learned from my senior project (who would have thought??) and apply it to something I am passionate about. I love the community and would love to part of it in such a way to only enhance the experience at those events. So, this is ultimately what I would LOVE to do.
This morning I got a call from a hotel I applied to a few weeks back in Pismo Beach called Oxford Suites, I think applied for a Front Desk Supervisor position. Well... they called this morning.. and not for that position but for the Sales Coordinator position. And so we will see where that goes. I am still wanting the Downtown Association, but we shall see.
I have also applied for a winery in Paso Robles, Malory O'Neill Vineyards as the Tasting Room and Wine Club Sales Manager. Don't know if the drive will be worth it, and it is also a great job... but with the tourism percentage down from last year... kinda scary when that is heavily depended on for business.... and it is not so community focused as I am seeking (not that I am being picky about jobs right now).
So please this is all a prayer request. I took this weekend to write a cover letter for the Downtown Association, spiffed up my resume, and filled out the paperwork I needed for them. I am going to be taking it tomorrow. Please pray for the Lord's hands to be in the situation, and for his provision!!! This is such an amazing opportunity and so prayerfully God will bless it!!
Thank you for the prayer and encouragement :)

The foundation of relationships... in Myspace and Facebook?
I am finding that people are seeking relationships as being contingent on whether or not they are or are not myspace or facebook friends. I have started taking people off I never talk to, or people that I talk to, but I know they have not used their profile in a long time. I also know that personal emails and the ability to call someone is not a lost concept... well okay... maybe it is. I am still old fashioned like that. While Iuse those programs to uoload pictures... I don't find those site to be the foundations of my friendships.
anyway.....
Job search is still in motion. Applied today for a position with the San Luis Obispo Downtown Association and also have an interview with a coffee shop in San Luis Obispo for a Store Manager position. We shall see what happens.
Prayer is needed for the job thing!! Thanks!

Can You Hear Me Now???
The job search is moving forward, and even a suggestion from my wonderful friend Ashley who is now a New York transplant (and Ash... I told you that you would fall in love with the city), says her firm is hiring in NYC.... don't know if I could ever handle a move like that. The move to San Diego almost killed me and I was absolutely miserable being 5 hours away from home where my friends and church family are. NYC is 2,500 and yeah I do have family in Long Island... but my core friends and immediate family are here in California.
Anyway... another option I guess I can let float around in the endless possibilities. And I appreciate it Ash! Anyway... today I interviewed to work for a law firm in San Luis Obispo, which would not be so bad. A good professional environment working Monday through Friday 9-5. 2 years ago I would have told you that kind of structure would drive me insane... now it does not sound so bad.
Today, I was contacted by a recruiter for Verizon Wireless. And tomorrow I have a phone interview for a full-time position making $32,000 a year plus benefits and some perks :). I actually am excited at the possibility. Great company to work for. I have had good experience with them as a customer, and customer service is a big thing for me. And it would keep me busy.
Never heard back from the Marketing Firm, so I guess that is a no.... so moving forward. Job search continues, and I will wait and see what happens with Verizon. Could be a good thing, and hoping it will be.
I was reminded one more time how much I love where I live. The beautiful ocean that lines up my drive when on the 101 from AG to SLO and back, and then going to Farmer's with Ali! Makes me miss living with her and hanging out. This week after a year of kinda doing our own thing with life being what it is... had a great time catching up with Jinell.
Oh and my roommates are super awesome!!!! :)

Briefing and Thought
March has not come without it's trials that's for sure. This month I have been battling a virus that I am now just getting over, but not before a wonderful trip to the ER. Somehow Sierra Vista is never busy during the times the bars are open downtown. Weird. Anyway... the next day I lost my job. The owner who is absolutely a nut case (no joke), and hates anyone who is female... and I was her target. She heard from the night auditor lady that I had a friend there (meaning, she took the 5 minutes my friend came in to take me to the ER at the end of my shift as hanging out all day!), and not wanting to talk to me and screaming obscenities in the background of a phone conversation I was having with the General Manager... that was the end of it. So I am now back to job hunting, and am now kinda turned off by the small businesses job industry. At least with corporate I would have been better protected. So, I have had one interview, and apply daily to jobs I find on craigslists, Mustang Jobs, and SLO Jobs. Trusting God to provide in the meantime... as He has been to this point.
Some may be reveling in the fact I was in the ER.... with a virus. I had a fever for over 5 days, not sleeping, coughing like crazy, and was having a hard time breathing, and then the chest pains kicked in, and I just felt awful and no reprieve seemed to be in sight. So, with my wonderful friend Tania to accompany me, went to the ER. Chest X-Ray, Meds, and a to-do list to get better and I was discharged within an hour and a half or so. All that and the owner still didn't care I was in the ER. Imagine that! Oh well. Cut the losses and move forward.
The good: Reconnecting with friends when it has been way too long. Others.... well.... some are good at pretending something is there, and others say "we need to talk more and hang out.... and it never happens". Out of sight and out of mind I guess. I am still re-evaluating my beliefs. Not that I am walking away from them, I just see it all differently... what it means to be a friend, what it means to be a Christian. I am also having some mid-mid life crisis. Almost 25... and here I am starting to get crows feet, and also feeling like I am not accomplishing much. I have this degree and can't get hired to do anything it seems like. It is so frustrating. I know I am to wait on the Lord... and I feel like I am waiting along time.
I am finding out what bothers me most about the general population of people, and doing my best to not follow suit.... and that would be in the lines of gossip. Never been for it, and hate hearing it... and hate it being about me. I also don't ever want to be seen as fake. Rather... I want people to see something genuine. No games, no drama. Living life and trying to see the positive, and removing negative people from it. People who seem to bring me down and others. Friends and people in my life I want are those who encourage, care, are selfless.... and don't make me feel like I am being judged and watched... like I am trying to prove I am good enough for them to even talk to me. I am learning more and more about people through observation... and I am starting to like people alot less.... or rather.... the good ones are few and far in between I guess. I always thought that the best of friends would come from my church circle of friends or from those I know from Crusade. Not the case. I have found in the past several months my non-Christian friends stepping up with Christ-like attributes in our friendship than I see in those who are Christians. I am not saying anyone in particular. Something I noticed with churches in San Diego... nothing seemed genuine, and people weren't that nice if you were not part of the group. I saw it in Crusade, and sometimes felt it with Shoreline.... but only towards the end before God took me somewhere else.
So.... its interesting... who comes into your life and how they affect it. I would say there are a few girls in my life for friends whom have ministered to me and been there for me better than most... and I hope they can say the same about me. These are the same girls I would love to see come to Christ. I pray for them, and yet don't get all preacher brother on them. I just pray and hope, and let God do the rest.
That's about it. Life is just going along. People may say all this is drama. Well no, its life. I don't look for it. I prefer simple, no conflict, and easy.... but being a Christian isn't, and being an adult isn't either. Welcome to that :)

I think February was a testament of how fast 2009 may go! As I continue to ponder the possibilities of returning to school in the fall I am also still seeing the job market for what's out there. Yes, I am still working... and I am blessed to be working... but as I am sick right now I am now being firmly reminded... how wonderful it would be to have medical coverage right now.
Everything is going well... that I know of. I am back on the thought to get rid of myspace. More and more people are getting Facebook, and it is less.... ridiculous... for the lack of a better word. As I was in high deleting contemplation... my wonderful roommate (and I do mean that in all seriousness), got me into YoVille. It is Sim's like, but like a little on the cheesy side. So we all play as roommates, and some of our friends have it too. But, once I get sick of it.... then I probably will wipe away MySpace for good. Also waiting for more people to catch up on the MySpace bandwagon as well.
Well as Spring comes.... so do I.... to some of you. I am taking a trip in April up to Salinas (not that it is very far) to see my wonderful roommate from last year, Abbie, in her new place... and will probably do what we do best... eat and shop :) Then in May hoping to go up to Sacramento to see a friend as well.... but that is still pending... then there is summer with Camp Challenge and I have been asked to go visit my aunts in New York again. The next plane I hope to be on though... is out to Colorado with my friend Mandy to see Suzanne. So... I plan to keep busy. Also I plan to also be in the next round of the Dave Ramsey series "Financial Peace", take on a second job at the very least... pay stuff off, and start thinking about getting another car. Who said a full-plate can't be satisfying?
I am being reminded how blessed I am for friends. I have also noticed my perspective and how I see things and approach things are changing. I find myself alot slower to jump into things and a lot more hesitant about the unknown. The past few months I am seeing relationships different, especially as I approach my faith. I know I am learning and growing... and also... being tested by all the stuff in the world... and its desire for me to fail. But I know I serve a much bigger God... and I am gonna make it.
Prayer for:
My mom's health still... I don't think it is improving any.
I am currently sick, and it is not so much fun!
Prayer for my roommate Kim as she is finishing the quarter with grad school
Continuing to seek God on restoring and reconciling where there need be.
My finances... just that I would be prepared for Financial Peace and to honor the Lord with my finances.
Camp Challenge this summer-- the staff and the campers who will be there.
And... that's it :)

The World We Live In
The news has been so disturbing lately. Makes me really appreciate where I live, where it seems I can be isolated from the terrible things that happen in bigger cities and in more crime ridden areas. I was reading through Fox News the other day about this young couple whom were major druggies and had a kitten. Now this kitten was apparently too hyper (who would have thought a kitten would have lots of energy.... duh).... anyway... to calm it down they would stuff this poor thing into a bong to get it high.... or into a glass box (kinda like a small aquarium) and the smoke from a home make bong would filter through there.... how cruel is that. Luckily they are being charged with Animal Cruelty and neglect. Also, if there is permanent neurological damage or the kitten dies then they will be held on felony charges.
Then we read about parents beating their kids, sexually abusing them... then parents wonder why they have defiant children and why they begin to lash out. There is no respect for any living being on the planet it seems.... animals included... and it is so sad. A poor animal or child who can't speak for themselves. I guess it makes the bullies feel they have power.
What a world we live in who need Christ huh?
