What the past few weeks have been! With two wonderful friends getting married at the end of March, to my best friend being in town, and then getting my braces off.... March turned out to be great... and busy. April is already starting out to be wonderful, with God providing and providing more opportunities to grow and learn from.
After a dozen interviews, I was offered a position in San Luis Obispo, and I accepted. What an answer to prayer. I prayed about it, and worried I would be locked into a job I may not like. I think it is just a fear of failure and venturing into the unknown. The position is as a Recreation Assistant for a retirement community here in San Luis Obispo. Not at all what I expected to be doing, but you know what.... I need the experience, and wanting to stay in SLO, it is happening. The retirement community is called The Villages in San Luis Obispo, and it is a full-time position, working with people (since a 9-5 in a cubicle is not what I wanted). The position asks of one or two Sunday afternoons a month, which is alright, and ya know... I gotta be a little flexible too. Also, I will have benefits which is nice as well. I will be keeping Coffee Bean.... for now.... a couple nights a week to have a little extra money in savings. I think that is exactly what I will be doing with that check.... taking it to savings only :) I am looking into a savings account with HSBC (Mike says the interest is like 5%, which is wonderful and higher than any CD I have looked into).
Senior project... well I need to go get it, make revisions... again, and then take it back to him to move forward. I am about ready to submit to the Human Subjects Committee for approval to go ahead and get the data I need for my study.
Life: WONDERFUL. Life is good, work at the bean has been stressful, but I am going down from 35 hours now to like 12-15 with this new position. I should have been promoted awhile ago, and now it is realized with my now going to another position. I need to get out in the field!
Mike and I are doing amazing, like really well. I am stoked on it. Our communication is getting so much better, and understanding each other better. Can't ask for more than that right?
The youth group had a wonderful time in Mexico, and they came back stoked and excited. I think they are ready for another trip.
I have included a pic below (with no braces!!) enjoy!
